The Division of Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response will offer technical and scientific expertise for protecting the public’s health from infectious diseases and other public health hazards. It will bring all the expertise currently fragmented and spread across various departments and committees on one platform; facilitating effective emergency preparedness, resilience and response of districts for health emergencies.
The Division of Public Health Policy Planning and Strategy Development will establish institutionalized mechanisms and structures for effective health policy development- from research and need assessment to stakeholder participation and contribution. It will serve as a critical resource for establishing public health priorities, developing programs, sound strategies and evidence-based policies.
The Division of Public Health Workforce Planning and Development will ensure optimal numbers and skill mix for a well distributed public health workforce in Punjab and will actively coordinate with the universities, medical and allied institutions, regulatory authorities and Department of Health for identification of HRH needs. It will assure quality of public health programs and training institutions to develop a critical mass of public health professionals for PPHA; promoting careers of public health professionals; and exploiting linkages with international Public Health Institutions.
The Division of Knowledge Management will serve as the information hub for all health data; develop minimum data sets, information resources and tools, collate; analyse and provide decision makers with scientific and technical information for improving implementation of public health interventions. It will collate information from various sources and will also actively develop linkages with partners to seek updated data and literature, nationally and internationally, in order to be able to provide the much needed evidence in a palatable format to the decisions makers for policies and strategies for health in Punjab.
The Division of Public Health Promotion and Communication will utilize proactive and effective health communication channels and methodologies to improve health indicators of Punjab. It will provide technical assistance for development of provincial communication strategy and plan and advise on timely issuance of technical messages through establishment of effective communication channels with Departments of Health and other stakeholders.
